The journey is the reward!

Those who leave the motorway at the exit Ötztal / Heiming set out on a journey through the bizarre variety of the Alpine region. A natural experience between rough Jochwind and Mediterranean climate in Passeiertal. Travel through Oetz Längenfeld and Sölden up to Zwieselstein, continue along the road towards Obergurgl, which branches off shortly before the High Alpine Road. 12 km to the pass road winds extended loops up to 2,509 m above sea level on Timmelsjoch. Up here you will feel the proximity of the mountains as severe as the size of the panoramic view high above the North and South.

In June you
often drive past snow walls, while on the other side of the wine foliage has already unfolded. Proven storm pine, alpine roses and later fall colors on pastures line the road. And again invites the magnificent view to pause.

The entire route was secured modern and has excellent road conditions. The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is a popular destination for all the family and popular highlight for motorcycle enthusiasts or convertible connoisseurs. But hikers get their money. The pass road opens up beautiful hiking areas, good hiking trails lead directly into the Ötztal mountains.

The border crossing is open from early June to mid-October daily 7:00 to 20:00.
